[From the somewhat blank look Tony tosses him, he hasn't even noticed there is a festival. It stands to reason, it seems like people go for any excuse for a party around here, and generally Tony can respect that.]

Been spending a lot of time out in the Abandoned City.

[It's half excuse and half explanation and Tony just shrugs.]

Anything good out there?

Lunar New Year stuff, so plenty of food, plus some kinda tradition of getting rid of burdens, physical and emotional.

[Sam hasn't been paying much attention to it, either, aside from taking Wong on a walk through the stalls and letting him enjoy the free samples. He doesn't need to unburden himself - or so he thinks - so he hasn't concerned himself with the other aspects of the festival. ]

How's the power grid going?

[Tony can't quite help a little huff of a laugh at that. Unburdening, sure. But it's easy enough, just let the conversation flow away from it.]

Moving along. You know, when I was doing this stuff back home, I never had to wonder if something was going to come along and try to eat my reactors.

[He sounds a little affronted by the idea, but also kind of like he's enjoying the challenge. Which he is. Tony's always happier if he's keeping himself busy.]

Hey, you haven't done any aerial surveys out there, have you?

Well, maybe you shouldn't make the reactors look so appetizing.

[Like Tide pods, but for the wildlife.]

Nah. You need anything done?

[Which might be a bit of a stupid question, considering that Tony's capable of doing it himself.

Mid-conversation, they arrive at the restaurant - a small, intimate sort of place. Not quite a hole in the wall (it's classier than that), but a tiny restaurant you might overlook. They're shown to a table, handed menus, all that jazz.]

Not need exactly.

[But the rest of the thought has to wait as they get settled. Reputation aside, Tony doesn't actually require five star restaurants, and he seems perfectly comfortable as he flips the menus open. At least until he remembers he was in the middle of a thought.]

No, I was just thinking we should head out there some time. [With a quick pause to shoot a flicker of a smirk in Sam's direction.] If you think you can keep up.

[Hey, this is the guy who asked for Burger King after spending fuck knows how long in a cave; Tony might be at home in Michelin Star restaurants, but the entire world knows his dirty culinary secrets. Besides, Sam wouldn't pick a restaurant if it wasn't up to his own culinary standards.]

I think I can keep up, yeah. [Sam just makes a face at him.] Even without fancy computers to do all the hard parts for me.

Oh sorry, I forgot that you grew your own wings and have no mechanical assistance.

[Tony rolls his eyes, but he can't quite hide the obvious amusement. Isn't really trying, either.]

So let me know when you're free and we'll go flying.

[Look, he knows he's no match for Tony in the speed department, but Sam likes to think that he has style. So he just nudges Tony's leg with his in response to the jibe. Maybe flying would have been a better date, he realizes, but Sam's a traditional kind of guy.

(Tony, obviously, isn't.)]

Should we pack a picnic lunch, too? Or just carry a pizza?

[He gives a low chuckle, looking far too amused at the idea. Though he does nudge Sam's foot right back, so it's more of a laughing with thing than laughing at.]

What are we gonna do, strap a pizza box to your back? Or mine?

[Honestly, he's done weirder. Both in terms of dates and strange things he's used the armor for.]

Nah, man, we can rig up something so Redwing can carry it. Make him earn his keep for once.

[Can the drone even carry a pizza? Who knows.]

[Tony outright snickers at that, leaning back in his seat to grin over at Sam.]

Now that's just not nice to poor Redwing. I could rig something else up.

Yeah, well, I can guarantee Jareth won't do it. He's not a pizza delivery bird.

[Plus he thinks a lot about his own dignity. Which is weird for a bird, but whatever, Sam doesn't judge.]

Just hijack one of the drones here to do it. They're used to carrying shit.

I wasn't about to suggest it.

[Honestly, there's something a little unsettling about that bird, but he's not going to admit that to Sam. He has his pride. Being outdone by an actual bird is a bit much.]

Why Samuel, are you suggesting I might take someone else's property and mess with it? I am shocked, sir.

[Hand over his heart and everything.]

[To be fair, Sam finds Jareth a little unsettling, so he wouldn't be surprised to hear it from Tony.]

[Look at Sam's mock-innocent face.]

I was just, you know, brainstorming out loud. I would never suggest anything like that.

[This might be the reason why their thing that may or may not be relationship-like works so well.]

Yeah, I just bet you wouldn't.

[He's not even bothering to hold back a grin.]

I know your type. Troublemaker all the way through.

Takes one to know one.

[Which might be a cliche, but it's also true.]

Anyway, what else are you gonna do, build a pizza warmer into your suit? Add a bagel toaster and it might just be the most New York thing I've seen in my life.

[Well, Tony's never argued that one. And he absolutely can't help the amused snort that sneaks out.]

Excuse me, sir, that is blatant stereotyping.

It's not stereotyping if it's true.

[And if the person stereotyping you is also just as stereotypical.]

I see, you just brought me out here to insult me.

[And also for the food, presumably. Tony's not complaining on either score.]
