[Tony just shrugs a little as he moves back again.

Better armoring, more functionality. I'm sure there's plenty of things I can find to do. You feel like there's anything missing?

I mean, it's pretty perfect as is. It's a great suit. Couldn't ask for better.

Oh man, this is so cool. He's actually, like, in the lab with Mr. Stark; he hasn't gotten to do that, had — uh, really barely got to talk to him after Germany (and we're not gonna talk about the rooftop conversation). But now there's this huge weight over his head that he should be on his best behavior, that he's definitely gotta keep up so he doesn't annoy him. He's the Smart Nerd. H'okay.]

... I was actually thinking more on expanding the distance the web shooters can reach, especially if I need to get up a really tall building faster; I'm already working on a 3.0 design for longer-lasting strength, but I don't really know how to get it to go from Point A to Point B faster, further.

[One eyebrow lifts, but Tony just turns an amused look on the kid.]

Doesn't mean it can't be improved.

[He pokes a finger through one of the acid burns as an illustration. But he's listening as Peter babbles, his expression shifting to something more thoughtful.]

Like you're looking for better propulsion? Getting it to shoot farther?

[An eager nod, and he gets a little more animated the more he talks, motioning with his hands.]

Yeah! Like, it's a balancing act to try and juggle the threat of over-pressured canisters with the potential for more power behind the web being shot, you know? I don't wanna blow my hands off, but I also think there's definitely room for messing with the original recipe and creating an even more long-reaching design with just as much tensile strength.

I've just never really, uh, had the components for that... In my chemistry and robotics classes...

I can see that, yeah.

[Tony sounds almost distracted for a moment and turns to pull up a holographic window next to him.]

Kind of a tossup between making a stronger canister or changing the formula to be more lightweight. Or just a completely different mechanism completely.

[With a gesture, he pushes the window Peter's way.]

Feel free to give me your specs. Or any other specs you're thinking about.

[Peter's tongue sticks out a little in thought as he looks at the window — there's clear mathematics going on behind the square-shaped blue gleam in his eyes, his brain ticking away options and unraveling equations to their basic levels again.

He's not exactly as brilliant as Mr. Stark or anything, he knows, but he'll work on it. There's always room for getting better. So he doesn't hesitate to start tapping calculations that alter the current canister design.]

I don't think weight should be a problem, since I've got the enhanced strength. The ones I have now are practically not there, which I know was kind of what you were going for, right? Making suits as durable as possible while being as light as possible?

... But I can handle a little extra weight in the webshooters if it means cutting time to get where I need to be.

[............. And now a bit more uncertain, because he can't help but second-guess:]

[Tony pauses, because he's been following along with the somewhat-muttered science happening, but the sudden trail off at the end catches him off guard.]

What does it matter what I think? It's your gear, you tell me.

[Sure he'd designed the suit, but that was because he had the time and the resources to manage something better than Peter's hold hoodie. He spreads his hands out a little as he gives Peter a look that's not quite puzzled.]

This isn't a test. I'm genuinely looking for feedback here, because if I tried to do what you do, I'd probably break a hip. So I can't know what works better for you.

[Well okay, he could probably map it and make some educated guesses. But that's not quite the same thing.]

R-right. Got it.

[Oh my god, Tony's trusting him with this kinda thing. This is intensely beyond anything he's gotten to do with equipment like this (outside of, um, removing trackers and stuff, but we don't talk about that snafu). He nods more confidently.]

I can handle heavier webshooters, if it makes the webshooting distance longer.

[He taps in some calculations with a more steady hand.]

And maybe make have a way to adjust the eyes to darker tints instead of only just being able to slit, because there are certain times of the day where there's way too much light filtering through — it's not really that bad for other people, but it can be a really painful glare if I'm up high without any cover.

[Imagine looking towards the sun when you're swinging through the city, with dialed 11 senses, y'know?]

Putting in light filters seems easy enough.

[And Tony's just got his arms folded now, watching Peter work things through with a look of faint bemusement. He's not entirely sure how they've ended up here, but it's not like Tony minds. Getting to work with someone with a different perspective is always a pleasure, and Peter's a quick kid.]

It's not really weight I'm worried about. You put more pressure into those things and eventually they're going to explode no matter what they're made of. Unless you happen to have some vibranium lying around.

[Oh lord, he practically sparkles at Tony.]

Mr. Stark. Vibranium webshooters.

[Look what you're doing, you're putting things in his head.]

...yeah I don't have any vibranium either, let's remember.

[Important engineering lesson -- gotta work with what you have. Or invent something new, but that's the advanced course.]
